FRIME and Nusa Tuna join NFI Sushi Council

03/31/2025

The NFI Sushi Council has added new members, FRIME and Nusa Tuna. With the latest additions, the council expands its food safety coalition with two key international harvesting and supplying companies.

With transparency and traceability, Barcelona’s FRIME supplies 40,000 MTs of yellowfin tuna to European and U.S. markets.

Based in Indonesia, Nusa Tuna provides a broad portfolio of ready-to-eat frozen tuna products sourced from small-scale tuna fishers.

“Harvester and supplier participation is vital to the success of the council,” said NFI Sushi Council Chairman Michael McNicholas of Culimer USA. “A product’s movement through the supply chain depends on the responsible actions of each value chain actor. Prime movers like FRIME and Nusa Tuna have a critical role in ensuring that product begins its journey at the highest level of safety and quality.”

The NFI Sushi Council is open for membership to all companies working within the sushi and sashimi supply chain. Contact NFI Sushi Council liaison Richard Barry (rbarry@nfi.org) for more information.
